Walk or Run for the Ones Who Bring Us Everything — Wellington 5km Charity Event Announced

The Mission to Seafarers Wellington is calling on the community to lace up their shoes and take part in a special 5km walk/run on Saturday, 18 April 2026, at the Sky Stadium Concourse — raising vital funds to support the seafarers who keep New Zealand moving.

Every day, seafarers deliver the goods we rely on — from the cars we drive to the fuel that powers them. Many spend up to nine months away from their families to keep global trade flowing. This event is an opportunity for Wellingtonians to give back.

Event Schedule:

  • 8:30am – Race Briefing

  • 9:00am – Race Begins

  • 10:00am – Prizegiving

  • Entry Cost: $25 per person

  • Parking: Available at CentrePort

  • Register Here

Participants can enter individually or form teams of five, with a suggested fundraising goal of $500 per team. Funds raised will support welfare services for seafarers visiting Wellington, including pastoral care, transport, and essential supplies.

The event is proudly supported by Sky Stadium, CentrePort, Bluebridge, 2degrees, Moana Rd, Okie Dokie Traffic Management, and other generous partners.

“Seafarers bring us almost everything we use in daily life. This event is a chance to walk or run in solidarity with the people who spend months at sea to keep our country supplied.”
