Photos of HRH Princess Anne’s visit to the Wellington Seafarers Centre on 16 February 2023

On Thursday 16th February 2023 we had the honour of hosting Her Royal Highness Princess Anne and her husband Sir Timothy Laurence at our Seafarers Centre, to unveil a beautiful korowai displayed on the wall of the Centre. The korowai is a traditional Māori cloak that represents the mana (authority) of the wearer; the korowai we have at our centre represents the welcome embrace and covering that our Centre is for all who visit.

This was followed by a ceremony held at the Wellington Cathedral of St Paul, where HRH Princess Anne unveiled a memorial plaque stone to dedicate a section of land for the MTS Wellington 125th Anniversary Memorial Project, in front of the Cathedral. The Mission to Seafarers Wellington is a mission of the Wellington Cathedral of St Paul, and we are grateful for the ongoing support of the Cathedral congregation that enables us to continue in our work of supporting seafarers.
